Mosul University: On Climate & One Million Trees Project

Department of Forestry in the College of Agriculture and Forestry, University of Mosul held an online workshop on climate action for a sustainable environment in light of the project of one million trees, Ministry’s Deputy for Scientific Research Affairs, Dr. Fouad Qassim Mohammed said. Dr. Mohammed added that the online workshop reviewed the importance of the project of planting a million trees that the Ministry is keen on achieving it as an environmental and economic development project, as well as the importance of tree planting as a tributary of wood products and warehouses for storing Carbon. Dr. Mohammed continued by saying that the online workshop recommended cooperating with the Ministerial Committee for the project on working on Carbon storage in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Environment and obliging the beneficiaries of the project's productivity by providing the producing colleges with periodic reports, identifying and numbering seedlings in order to facilitate the follow-up of the completion of the project and easy access to measurement samples of Carbon storage. It is worth mentioning that the online workshop was attended by the President, the Scientific and Administrative Assistants of the University and Presidents of a number of Iraqi Universities.
