During the meeting with the heads and members of national programmatic accreditation councils, the Director of Scientific Evaluation & Supervision Apparatus, Prof. Dr. Salah Hadi Saleh reviewed operations, key achievements, and the challenges they face, as well as addressing enhancing programmatic accreditation mechanisms and strengthening the quality assurance system across Iraq’s public and private universities.



Prof.
Dr. Salah Hadi Saleh emphasized the vital role programmatic accreditation
councils play in improving the quality of higher education, as well as saying
that programmatic accreditation serves as a pathway for continuous improvement,
the enhancement of academic performance, and the elevation of educational
program outcomes aligning them with labor market needs, development
requirements, and scientific and technological advancements.



The Director of Scientific Evaluation & Supervision Apparatus highlighted the current state of programmatic accreditation in Iraq and the councils' achievements in establishing and implementing national accreditation standards and requirements for the upcoming phase and the need to refine operational mechanisms to keep pace with regional and international developments in quality assurance and academic accreditation.



For their part, the Heads of the programmatic accreditation councils outlined their operational stages, key achievements, and the challenges hindering their work.



They also highlighted efforts to foster cooperation with specialized international bodies and organizations, as well as work toward meeting international recognition requirements in accordance with relevant global standards and benchmarks.
For their part, the attendees reviewed several proposals aimed at enhancing the operations of programmatic accreditation councils and strengthening coordination between them, Scientific Evaluation & Supervision Apparatus and universities, besides updating standards and evaluation mechanisms to align with global developments in quality assurance and academic accreditation.
It is significant to mention that the meeting demonstrated the councils' efforts to embed a culture of quality within educational institutions and covering the review of program objectives, outcomes, curricula, and methods of teaching, learning, and assessment, alongside the transition toward practices grounded in results, evidence, and continuous improvement.
This
meeting takes place within the framework of the Scientific Evaluation &
Supervision Apparatus’s efforts to establish a sustainable national system for
quality assurance and academic accreditation, develop educational programs and
their outcomes, and bolster the capacity of Iraqi higher education institutions
to keep pace with the requirements of academic and scientific advancement.
