A research team in the College of Science, University of Al-Mustansiriyah obtained a patent on using nanoparticles of titanium dioxide with benzoic acid compounds that prepared with gel method to purify drinking water.
The patent, in which granted by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control Unit of the Ministry of Planning, aimed at purifying drinking water from hazardous organic pollutants via preparing a Nano-gel and using different sources of ray such as UV, visible rays or sunlight.
The patent reviewed using a number of techniques such as X-ray diffraction and electron microscopy as well as reviewing the theoretical study via using a semi-experimental method in the HYPER CHEM software in order to determine configuration heat, total energy, bonding energy and bond length.
