College of Education, Al-Iraqia University discussed a master dissertation on detecting of the Gene cytochrome oxidaes COXI in the peach fruit fly Bacterocera zonata and the study of genetic and phenotypic variations by the postgraduate student, Ms. Nidaa Ibrahim Ahmed.
The dissertation aimed at diagnosing
the insect phenotypically and molecularly and study the population density of
the insect on different types of citrus fruits and food preference and evaluating
the efficiency of types of specialized pheromone traps for the insect.
The dissertation reviewed the COX
1 Gene for the insect and its accompaniment to the fruits throughout the study
period and the fluctuation of its density according to the difference in
regions and temperatures and the superiority of the Red Jackson trap over the
white Tafri and Jackson traps in catching adults.
