College of Science, Mustansiriyah University discussed a master dissertation on ways to control carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteria using non-thermal plasma by the postgraduate student, Ms. Sanaa Ali Hamza.
The thesis aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of non-thermal plasma in eliminating carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteria.
The dissertation highlighted isolating the studied bacteria from different clinical sources, including a statement of microbiological diagnosis methods and determining their ability to resist antibiotics and form biofilms.
The dissertation reviewed the possibility of using non-thermal plasma as a safe and effective alternative to treat Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteria to inhibiting its resistance to antibiotics, as well as preventing biofilm formation, and destroying the bacteria's DNA after only 15 seconds of exposure to the technology.
