College of Science, University of Kirkuk discussed a master dissertation on preparing and diagnosing of some heterocyclic derivatives and poly-3,2-dihydro-H₁-pyrazole, while studying some of their applications by the postgraduate student, Mr. Sarah Mohamed Abdul Rahman.

The dissertation aimed at preparing the compounds diarylidene, cinnamylidene, pyrazolene, pyrrolidine and phenol-formaldehyde polymers and measuring the analytical values of the prepared polymers to determine their efficiency in the capacity of loading insoluble metal ions and to measuring the biological effectiveness of the pyrazoline and pyrrolidine compounds.

The dissertation concluded that there is an increase in the efficiency of the loading capacity of polymers for ions with increasing time at a constant pH for all prepared polymers.

The dissertation highlighted the biological effectiveness of the prepared compounds against some bacterial species (Staphylococcus aureus, E. coli) by showing that pyrolidine derivatives had a higher inhibitory activity than pyrrolidine substitutes against the studied isolates.
