College of Engineering, Al-Qadisiyah University discussed a master dissertation on using of water as a source of hydrogen in the catalytic aqueous deoxygenation process of biomass by the postgraduate student, Mr. Fawz Dhafer Yahya.
The dissertation aimed at preparing a suitable catalyst containing cobalt in different proportions that can convert biomass into biofuel using the (HDO) process and using water as a substitute for oxygen, as well as studying the effects on the process parameters and determining the optimal conditions of temperature and catalyst ratio and time using Box-Behnken design (BBD) and response surface methodology (RSM).
The dissertation reviewed using of gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) to identify chemical components in biocrude oil products.
The dissertation demonstrated the effect of the three operating factors of temperature, residence time, and catalyst concentration in relation to the raw material on the (HDO).
