College of Science, University of Diyala discussed a Ph.D thesis on manufacturing and developing of a titanium alloy coated with a bio-Nanomaterial for dental applications by the postgraduate student, Mrs. Mayada Faisal Khalil.
The thesis aimed at manufacturing of titanium alloys supported by copper via using a pulsed LASER deposition method, which has anti-bacterial and anti-cancer cell lines properties.
The thesis concluded that the results of the compositional tests of the alloys before and after coating are for the α-Ti phase, as well as slight peaks for the metallic Ti2Cu phase, while the tests of the alloys before coating showed that the pure titanium alloy (Ti-0%Cu) is homogeneously distributed and that the alloy has high hardness and corrosion resistance.
