College of Science, University of Kirkuk discussed a Ph.D. thesis on the estimation of some active compounds in pharmaceutical preparations using different analytical methods by the postgraduate student, Mr. Ali Muhammad Attia.

The thesis aimed at developing reliable chromatographic techniques to separate and identify three pharmaceutical drugs (escitalopram oxalate, meloxicam, ondansetron hydrochloride) via using a combination of chromatographic techniques, spectroscopic techniques and PVC membrane electrodes and to evaluate the advantages and limitations of each method to choose the best analytical strategy that suits different drugs and various conditions and ensure the reliability of the methods in quality control and regulatory standards in the industry.

The thesis concluded that chromatographic procedures such as HPLC have proven effective in separating and identifying drugs with high accuracy and sensitivity, as spectroscopic techniques provide a cost-effective and fast method, while PVC membrane electrodes provide an innovative and effective method for selective detection of drugs.
