Mustansiriyah University discussed a master dissertation on improving
the optical stability of irradiated polymer Nano-composite, by the postgraduate
student, Mrs. Maryam Hussein Muhammad.
The dissertation reviewed preparing a Nano-composite by combining
different amounts of silica (SiO2) with the polymer polyvinyl chloride (PVC), as
well as studying the effect of different doses of Gamma rays on the prepared Nano-composite
membranes (PVC/SiO2) and its optical and structural properties, besides
conducting a set of tests for the compound based on several techniques:
(UV-VIS), (FTIR), (XRD) and (FESEM).
The dissertation demonstrated exposing the prepared Nano-composite films
(PVC/SiO2) to different doses of Gamma rays led to a change in the optical and
structural properties.
