College of Pharmacy, University of Mustansiriyah discussed a master dissertation on preparing of new chemical derivatives, their diagnosis and studying of their pharmaceutical effectiveness as anti-cancer agents by the postgraduate student, Mr. Youssef Sabah Ali.
The dissertation aimed at designing new derivatives of the (1,3,4-oxadiazole) ring by computer and their synthesis, characterization and diagnosis, as well as testing them in the laboratory to ensure their pharmaceutical effectiveness and cytotoxic activity against colorectal cancer.
The dissertation highlighted molecular anchoring of the new derivatives via linking the chemicals to the crystal structure of the CDK-2 protein (PDB-2R3J) to evaluate the degree of association, as well as characterizing and diagnosing the compounds based on physical and chemical properties, precise infrared spectrum and nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum proton and carbon NMR spectroscopy.
