His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Haider Bahaa Al-Hasani met with the Governor of Najaf Al-Ashraf, Mr. Yousef Kanawi. 

Prof. Dr. Haider Al-Hasani said that the two sides discussed avenues for joint cooperation between the Ministry and the local government, as well as priorities for supporting universities and academic institutions within the governorate.

His Excellency emphasized the importance of coordinating efforts between the Ministry and local governments to advance university institutions by fulfilling their requirements and improving their educational and research environments.

Prof. Dr. Haider Al-Hasani said that universities bear a scientific and societal responsibility that extends beyond the scope of the educational process, encompassing the production of knowledge and the provision of scientific solutions to developmental challenges.

Prof. Dr. Haider Al-Hasani added that the advancement of higher education requires strengthening integration between academic institutions and government sectors, it includes creating the necessary conditions to elevate university performance, expanding the horizons of scientific research and academic collaboration, and solidifying the standing of Iraqi universities and their role in serving society.

For his part, the Governor of Najaf Al-Ashraf highlighted the importance of maintaining coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to address the needs of universities and academic institutions.

The Governor affirmed the local government’s readiness to provide the necessary support and assistance to advance the academic and scientific landscape within the governorate.
