College of Science, University of Al-Mustansiriyah discussed a Ph.D. thesis on the antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of locally isolated macroalgae extracts by the postgraduate student, Mrs. Russell Abdul-Rasoul Ali. The thesis aimed at isolating the algae present in the Iraqi environment, diagnosing its compounds and determining its effectiveness as anti-bacterial and antioxidant. The thesis reviewed using of an animal model in the experiment of algal extracts and the analysis of their effects on kidney and liver functions. The thesis concluded that algae possesses great efficacy that can be used as anti-bacterial isolated.
