Baghdad University’s Master’s Dissertation: On Archaeological Memory Of Babylon City

Urban and Regional Planning Center for Postgraduate Studies, University of Baghdad discussed a master dissertation on the archaeological memory of the City of Babylon in activating the civilized movement by the postgraduate student, Mrs. Shahd Hussain Omran.

 

The dissertation aimed at demonstrating the extent of the impact of memory on the civilized movement and how it is reflected on human spatial memory, due to the importance of the past in forming an image of the future and clarifying the relation between memory and the city in order to understand the planning response to human crises.

The dissertation reviewed the importance of planning for cities and highlighting the role of the planning memory of the ancient city of Babylon in advancing the cultural reality.

The dissertation also reviewed the importance of preserving the cultural and heritage that constitutes the identity of the city and its spiritual and intellectual aspect in terms of matching value and function and not damaging the renovation processes to the historical value, which contributes to planning development.
