The College of Education for Humanities, Diyala University discussed a master dissertation on modeling changes in agricultural land use in the center of Baladruz District in the governorate by the postgraduate student, Ms. Israa Mohammed Mahdi.

The dissertation aimed at demonstrating the impact of agricultural land use on developing sustainable development plans for areas that primarily rely on agricultural activity.

The dissertation reviewed that natural factors such as geological structure, topography, soil, and their interaction with climatic elements, particularly rainfall, have a clear impact on the area of cultivated land during the winter season, as well as significant changes were observed in the types of agricultural land use within the study area between the winter season of 2000 and the same season of 2024, especially in the categories of agricultural fields and orchards.

The dissertation highlighted that large areas of barren land cover the eastern and southeastern parts of the study area, while cultivated land is concentrated along the Al-Ruz stream, particularly in the northern and northeastern areas, relying on the stream's water during the summer season.
