During representing the Iraqi Prime Minister and participating in the inauguration of the Fourth International Conference on Geographic Information Systems and Smart Cities, which was held by the National Security Advisory, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr.  Naeem Abd Yaser Al-Aboudi praised such conferences, which raises significant storms about geographic information systems and smart cities and stimulates public and private sector institutions to be part of the comprehensive transformation aspect towards digitization of details and service governance in general.

Dr. Al-Aboudi reviewed that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research based on three simultaneous axes to enhance the fields of geographic information systems and move towards a sustainable smart city environment.

His Excellency also reviewed that these axes were embodied in the inauguration of specialized departments and colleges that enhance the specialized scientific field, provide work environments with qualifications, intensify academic programs at the level of university and postgraduate studies, contribute in workshops and conferences and provide specialized staff in developing software environments responsible for incubating data and their indicators.

Dr. Al-Aboudi said that the information revolution in the world and the variables of the current reality indicate the need to enhance and develop skills, keep pace with developments and respond to the requirements of sustainable development.

His Excellency called on the continuation of the momentum of cooperation and integration between State’s institutions and their facilities, strengthening their structure and embodying the national situation with a sense of belonging and cooperation that serves institutions of all their functions and goals.

It is worth mentioning that the inauguration of the conference included delivering speeches by National Security Adviser, Mr. Qassem Al-Araji, conference’s supervisors and a number of developers and representatives of international companies, as well as the confer1ence concluded with honoring by the representative of the Prime Minister, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr.  Naeem Abd Yaser for the representatives the Ministry, the institutions and the supporting companies besides exhibition of specialized companies in geospatial technologies and smart cities was inaugurated on the during the conference from 6th to 8th of February.
