During a visit to University of Basrah, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr.  Naeem Abd Yaser Al-Aboudi said that the Ministry continues supporting, completing infrastructure projects for educational institutions and harnessing all possible efforts and energies to upgrade universities and apply quality assurance standards to enable university institutions to fulfill their mission in meeting the needs of community and labor market.

Dr. Al-Aboudi stressed on the importance of linking universities to the productive sectors, community service, developing the scientific and research environment and contributing to solve problems that hinder development aspects.

His Excellency added that there are well-thought-out plans and decisions to improve the scientific environment in line with the modern educational and academic programs.

Dr. Al-Aboudi reviewed that a qualitative achievement represented in the decision to adopt the Bologna Process, which paves the way for completing all quality and academic accreditation requirements.

His Excellency stressed on the promotion of the culture of productive universities.

Dr. Al-Aboudi called on State’s institutions to benefit from scientific and applied researches and studies to achieve the highest level of indicators of sustainable development.

His Excellency praised the educational services undertaken by the University of Basrah and its colleges and scientific departments.

For his part,  President of Basrah University, Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi expressed his happiness for the visit of His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr.  Naeem Abd Yaser Al-Aboudi and his accompanying delegation, as well as reviewing the scientific and research achievements of the university and its progress in many international rankings and its application of quality assurance standards that enabled it to perform its mission in meeting the needs of the community.

It is worth mentioning that the visit was accompanied by Governor of Basrah, Eng. Asaad Abd Al-Amir Al-Eidani, a number of Iraqi Parliament members, Ministry’s Deputies for Administrative Affairs and Director General of Studies, Planning and Follow-up.
