The College of Applied Sciences, Samarra University discussed a
master dissertation on Toxoplasma gondii as a risk factor for complications of
type 2 diabetes by postgraduate student, Mr. Abdullah Jassim Hamad.
The dissertation aimed at estimating the risks of T2DM due to T.
gondii infection by conducting a systematic review and meta-analysis of
published studies examining seroprevalence rates of T. gondii in people with
T2DM compared to those who do not suffer from it.
The dissertation reviewed that there was a significant increase in
the level of IgG in women infected with the Toxoplasma gondii parasite compared
to healthy women, and another in diabetic women compared to non-infected women
and a significant increase in women infected with the parasite with diabetes
compared to healthy women, and also significantly compared to women infected
with diabetes only, as well as a non-significant increase in the level of RBS
in women infected with the parasite compared to healthy women, it is also
insignificant in women with diabetes compared to those who are not infected and
the decrease in women infected with the parasite with diabetes is insignificant
compared to healthy women.
