During Participating of More Than Hundred Universities from Both Countries, Higher Education Announces Launching of Iraqi-Iranian Science Week in Karbala & Inking of Executive Program Between Iraqi Higher Education & Its Iranian Counterpart

During launching activities of the Iraqi-Iranian Science Week were in Karbala, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Abd Yaser Al-Aboudi confirmed that the second edition of the Iraqi-Iranian Science Week will proceed with details to the implementation stage in terms of exchanging scientists, faculty members and researchers, implementing research and technological projects, cultural exchange and scholarships, holding specialized workshops, stimulating technical and professional cooperation and establishing joint parks for science and technology.


Dr. Al-Aboudi reviewed that the Iraqi government and its development institutions, especially the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research have achieved positive indicators in the field of internationalization of education and the field of sustainable development and have risen the name of Iraq in important international ranks thanks to the keen interest in scientific research and the rise in the growth index in global publishing.


His Excellency said that the aspect of quality education in Iraqi university institutions has provided a guarantee of access to international accreditation and made the academic programs and certificates granted at a high level of scientific solidity.


For his part, the Iranian Minister of Science, Research and Technology, Dr. Hossein Simaei Saraf expressed his appreciation for the high level of organization of the Joint Science Week, as well as reviewing the importance of scientific cooperation between the universities of the two countries and strengthening their top scores in global rankings.


Dr. Al-Aboudi demonstrated that the two sides inked an executive program between the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, which included several axes, as the following:

▪Enhancing joint cooperation between the two parties in the scholarship program for undergraduate and postgraduate studies, especially within the Study in Iraq program.

▪Organizing training workshops for faculty members and students.

▪Encouraging cooperation in the field of joint scientific supervision.

▪The possibility of exchanging university faculty members to conduct joint scientific research and deliver lectures in their fields of specialization.

▪Working to establish a joint scientific park in Iraq under the management of the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.


It is worth to be mentioned that the opening ceremony of the Iraqi-Iranian Science Week witnessed delivering official speeches, scientific presentations, and honoring of a number of figures, as well as participating of the two sides members and the representative of the Parliamentary Education Committee, the Governor of Karbala and its Chairman, university presidents, general managers and cultural advisors.
