Kirkuk University’s Master’s Dissertation on Assessment of Health Risks of Aromatic Hydrocarbons

College of Science, Kirkuk University discussed a master dissertation on the assessment and evaluation of health risks of some aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) of the Hawija-Kirkuk irrigation project water by the postgraduate student, Mr. Omar Mutlaq Ali.

The dissertation aimed at assessing the quality of the project water by studying some physical and chemical properties and determining its suitability for various uses, with a focus on aromatic hydrocarbons and their dangers.

The dissertation concluded that most of the physical and chemical properties were within acceptable limits, but bacteriological tests revealed significant differences between the months of the year.

The dissertation confirmed that the concentrations of some compounds such as naphthalene, benzo-p-fluoranthene, and benzo-k-fluoranthene fall within the permissible limits for a total of 18 compounds identified by the GC_Mass device.
