During the opening of the first scientific forum in Wasit Governorate, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Abd Yaser Al-Aboudi announced on establishing of a new public university in Wasit and supporting of the development requirements of the provinces and the enhancement of their educational environments and specialized programs.

Dr. Al-Aboudi reviewed that the Ministry provided all the studied introductions to deal with the development requirements of all Iraqi provinces and support their educational environment.

His Excellency highlighted the establishment of more than one hundred university formations at the level of universities, colleges, departments, sections and institutes, as well as giving priority to the specializations and programs that society aspires to in the medical, engineering, technical, pure sciences, agricultural, veterinary, administrative, economic, human and social sciences.

Dr. Al-Aboudi added that interest in this path necessitated the interconnection of work spaces and joint coordination with officials of the Iraqi provinces, their governments and local councils and confronting challenges and establishing a direct path to developing universities and enabling them to achieve their goals over more than two years of ministerial responsibility.

For his part, the Governor of Wasit, Dr. Mohammed Jamil Al-Mayahy stressed that higher education in Iraq is going through a distinguished stage, as well as the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, is the owner of pioneering achievements represented by the internationalization of education and attracting international students within the Study in Iraq program.

For his part, President of Wasit University, Dr. Abbas Lafta Al-Aqabi reviewed the importance of the forum and the impact of the university in achieving development goals.

It is worth to be mentioned that the activities of the first scientific forum in Wasit witness scientific and research sessions that shed light on the social and economic life of Wasit in historical eras the translation movement, culture and literature, and its most prominent scholars and celebrities.
