Al-Mustansiriya University: On Moringa Oleifera & Cancer

A joint research team in the College of Science, University of Al-Mustansiriya conducted a study on the anti-cancer effect of methanolic extract of Moringa Oleifera against two types of cancer cell lines in living body. The study reviewed ability Moringa Oleifera to inhibit the growth of cancer cells of the breast and intestinal cancers and to detect the most important bioactive compounds found in the leaf extract of this plant that increase anti-cancer cells. The study also reviewed the local cultivation of Moringa Oleifera and the extraction of active compounds by hot metabolic extraction which improves succeeding the inhibition of growth of cancer cells by the extract as well as the extract contains 15 bioactive compounds, including nine anti-tumor compounds.
