In coordination with Baghdad Municipality, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research started the project of planting the seeds of the one million trees as one of the government program articles. The project aimed at supplying the municipalities of the airport, the Green Zone, Al-Karrada, Dora, Al-Sadr City and Al-Rasheed areas with trees and seeds to contribute in the self-sufficiency in the productivity of suitable trees types for the City of Baghdad environment. The project cultivating of the 2020 Roystonea regia seeds for the first time in Iraq and other types that suitable for the Iraqi provinces from north to south, as well as training a group of engineers working in the Baghdad Municipality to recognize the appropriate species and methods of cultivation.
