College of Science, University of Misan discussed a master dissertation the role of Nano-iron oxide-doped polymers and the role of high-magnetic Nano-iron oxide in removing some elemental ions from aqueous solutions by the postgraduate student, Mrs. Nour Sabah Kadhem.

The dissertation, included a study of methods for preparing highly magnetic nano-iron oxide by co-precipitation method, then nanocomposites of it were prepared with different mixing ratios and used as effective adsorbent surfaces to remove ions of heavy elements, as well as the best mixing ratio was chosen after the current study.

The dissertation demonstrated the diagnosis of polymeric adsorbents via using several techniques, namely infrared spectroscopy, atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS), X-rays (XRD), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) with a scattering X-ray detector (EDX) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) zeta potential ( Zeta potential).
