College of Science, University of Basrah discussed a master dissertation on bacterial frequency in hemodialysis patients by the postgraduate student, Mrs. Mona Abdul Sattar Faisal. The dissertation aimed at isolating the bacteria present in the dialysis water and diagnosing it by via usual and genetic methods. The dissertation demonstrated the existence of bacterial species, some of which carry new genetic mutations in the used water for dialysis. The dissertation recommended using more efficient and new sterile filters and materials, and conducting a periodic examination of the water to prevent bacterial infections for dialysis patients.
