College of Engineering, University of Basrah discussed a numerical study on the effect of rotation on mixed convection by the postgraduate student, Mrs. Iman Ghazi Muhammad. The dissertation reviewed solving equations numerically, including the continuity equation, for momentum and energy using computational fluid dynamics. The dissertation demonstrated the possibility of using a limited number of controlling volumes and solving equations of mass, momentum and energy, as well as a case study for angular velocities of different locations and cylinders. The dissertation concluded that the effect of buoyancy becomes negligible for small values of Ri in the range Ri>1. The Nusselt number increases with Ri and with the increase in Reynolds values.
