College of Science, University of Basrah discussed a master dissertation on the hydrological and chemical study of injection water and its effect on the petrophysical properties of the upper sand member in the Zubair Formation in the West Qurna oil field by the postgraduate student, Mrs. Zahraa Abdullah Mazal. The dissertation aimed at taking rock models and conducting a set of mineral analyzes and drawing and interpreting well probes to know the petrophysical specifications and water and oil saturation. The dissertation concluded that saline and highly saline waters are the dominant types of surface water and injection water respectively.
