The Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Abd Al-Hussein Al-Mousawi chaired a meeting of the committee responsible for clearing the Dr. Abd Al-Hussein Al-Mousawi Chairs Meeting of Committee Tasked with Clearing Radioactive Residue Across Iraq of Iraq including the governorates of the Kurdistan Region of radioactive residue.

Dr. Abd Al-Hussein Al-Mousawi reviewed the operational mechanisms and inter-sectoral coordination to oversee the clearance of targeted sites and areas, as well as implementing rigorous radiation safety and security standards to ensure the protection of the environment and public health.

His Excellency emphasized the importance of concerted national efforts and the integration of scientific, technical, and regulatory roles among relevant authorities to achieve a safe, radiation-free environment throughout the country.

It is significant to mention that the meeting was attended by the committee’s deputy chair, Advisor Dr. Hamid Majeed Majbil Al-Baheli (member of the Advisory Commission), alongside representatives from the National Commission for Nuclear, Radiological, Chemical, and Biological Regulatory Control, the Ministry of Environment, the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission, the directorate  of Cabinet and Committee Affairs at the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, as well as representatives from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the Public Mobilization Forces (PMF) and Babylon Governorate.
