During chairing a meeting and as part of the ongoing scientific and strategic cooperation between the Federal Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Ministry of Higher Education of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), the Ministry’s Deputy for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Haider Abd Dhahad addressed scientific matters of mutual interest and mechanisms to enhance academic cooperation and overcome administrative and technical obstacles that might hinder the completion of mutual admission procedures and degree equivalency processes between the two sides.

Dr. Haider Abd Dhahad reviewed that the meeting resulted in an agreement to expand mutual student admission opportunities for the upcoming academic year, regarding undergraduate studies, it was agreed to increase the number of admission seats from 400 to 1,000 students for each side, while for postgraduate studies, the agreement entailed increasing the number of seats from 100 to 250 students for each side.

The Deputy highlighted that both sides emphasized the importance of continuing scientific and academic coordination and streamlining procedures related to admissions and degrees, thereby serving students and supporting the path of cooperation between higher education institutions in the Federal Government and the Kurdistan Regional Government.

It is significant to mention that the meeting was attended by the Advisor to the KRG Ministry of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Sabah Ibrahim Wais, alongside the Directors General of the Directorates of Studies, Planning, and Follow-up; Scholarships and Cultural Relations; and Research and Development from both sides.
