During a meeting with the General Secretariat of Imam Hussein Holy Shrine, Directorate of Space and Communications, merged Ministry of Science and Technology inked a Memorandum of Understanding on archaeological exploration via using space technologies. The meeting reviewed activating the mechanism of joint work in the field of space technology to develop the exploratory work of the historical and religious monuments that the Holy Shrine is interested in. The meeting highlighted that the Ministry will provide training for the Holy Shrine’s staffs on using the space technology and space information to detect religious and historical archaeological sites. The meeting also reviewed the need to build specialized human capacities in the applications of remote sensing, space science and geophysics, cooperating to implement modern technologies, exchanging data and relevant information and holding scientific conferences on space and communications technology implementations.
