Higher Education: On Treating Water

Directorate of Training, merged Ministry of Science and Technology organized a symposium on the methods of sterilizing traditional and advanced drinking water. The symposium reviewed the main methods used in sterilizing drinking water via a series of physical and chemical treatment methods to filtered organic and inorganic substances in water and wastewater components via reaction mechanisms such as oxidation and the production of free radicals (hydroxyl radical OH). The symposium highlighted the conditions that must be met in drinking water in terms to be free from certain types of bacteria, parasites, worms and other microorganisms and the need to remove them via advanced sterilization methods to reduce spreading of environmental pollution and preserve the characteristics of biological water.
