College of Science, University of Mustansiriyah discussed a master dissertation on improving the effectiveness of robots and self-driving vehicles and developing their ability to recognize individuals and objects and navigate successfully by the postgraduate student, Mr. Zahraa Hamid Rasoul.
The dissertation aimed at developing the ability of smart machines such as robots and self-driving vehicles to navigate their surroundings successfully and improve their ability to recognize people and different objects and respond to them effectively by employing smart machine technologies to design a path planning system for robots and vehicles based on images of objects.
The dissertation highlighted designing of a comprehensive system that integrates object recognition with path planning using the capabilities of machine learning algorithms and deep neural networks, which provide encouraging opportunities for a variety of applications and play an important role and enhancing the effectiveness of robots and self-driving vehicles in completing multiple tasks, as well as conducting many experiments and carrying out, a comprehensive examination of the system’s algorithms and methods used in it.
The dissertation concluded that the new system is characterized by a high level of accuracy in detecting objects and leads to improving the mechanism of operation of robots and vehicles, as the accuracy of the system in recognizing images of faces, distinguishing objects, and planning the path reached (100%).
The dissertation highlighted the importance of the new system in enhancing the capabilities of smart machines in the fields of identifying individuals and navigating within complex environments, as well as the possibility of benefiting from it in a variety of applications, especially in the fields of health care, surveillance systems and customer services.
