University of Wasit held a scientific symposium on the protection of Iraqi antiquities, Assistant Director General of the Iraqi Museums Directorate, Dr. Abbas Abd Al-Mandil said. Dr. Abbas added that the symposium reviewed the ways and mechanisms by which Iraqi antiquities are protected via using modern methods and assisting satellites in preserving this important cultural heritage, especially those that have been included on the World Heritage List. Dr. Abbas demonstrated that the symposium included three axes, the first was on the protection of antiquities in archaeological sites and museums by Dr. Abbas, the second was on using of remote sensing techniques in antiquities protection by the researcher in PMC, Dr. Torhan Al-Mufti and the third axis was on the Iraqi archaeological sites listed in the World Heritage List by Dr. Fadhil Kadhim Hanoun.
