College of Education, University of Samarra discussed a Ph.D. thesis on preparing and studying of some organic Nano-Composites with graphene oxide, which have expected biological applications by the postgraduate student, Mrs. Saba Saleh Abdul-Ghany.
The thesis aimed at preparing a number of 2-aminobenzothiazole derivatives, preparing benzoimidazole derivatives, preparing Schiff bases derivatives derived from two compounds of prepared 2-aminobenzothiazole compounds and some Nano-Composites derived from graphene oxide, ferrous oxide, ferric oxide and zinc Nano-Particles.
The thesis demonstrated preparing of 2-aminobenzothiazole derivatives (S1-S7) via reacting amines (benzidine, 4-aminobenzoic acid, sulphmethaoxazole, sulphactamide, Dabson, diaminophynlmethane, sulphanilamide) with potassium thiocate in the presence of bromine and acetic acid as a catalyst and in the traditional way.
The thesis highlighted the identification of the prepared compounds using spectroscopic methods such as infrared spectroscopy (FT.IR), proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR) and mass spectrometry for some of the prepared compounds.
The thesis also reviewed that the Nano-Composites were identified by spectroscopic methods such as X-ray diffraction spectroscopy (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (FESEM).
