A joint research team in the Universities of Al-Mustansiriyah and Middle Technical University conduct joint study on designing a gas sensor based on nanotechnology. The joint study reviewed designing of copper-tainted nickel oxide membranes with nanostructures of different fishes via using a system (RF-reactive planar magnetron sputtering), as well as adding copper slices to the nanostructures of the nickel surface and manufacturing the gas sensor. The joint study also reviewed the synthetic properties of the sensor, using X-ray technology (XRD), the atomic microscope (AFM), and the electronic scanning microscope (SEM), as well as searching the optical properties that include permeability, energy gap and gas sensitivity. The joint study demonstrated the efficiency of the new sensor, its high sensitivity in detecting different gases, and its potential for use in many electronic, scientific, industrial, medical and agricultural applications. It is worth mentioning that the joint study was published in the international Journal of "Vacuum" in Scopus.
