Al-Musayyib Technical College- Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University discussed a master dissertation on the effect of irrigation water salinity levels, organic fertilizer and Nano-zinc spraying on some soil properties and the growth and yield of sunflowers by postgraduate student, Mr. Khaled Obaid Ali.
The dissertation demonstrated that the extent to which the sunflower plant tolerates the quality of organic fertilizers in improving soil properties and irrigation water and its effect on some growth characteristics and to reveal the role of the interaction of experiment factors in some soil characteristics and the growth and production of the flower.
The dissertation confirmed that the organic matter has a positive effect in reducing the harmful effect of the salinity of irrigation water and improving the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil, as well as increasing crop productivity.
The dissertation reviewed that zinc Nano-fertilizer has a role no less important than organic fertilizers in increasing biochemical reactions, which in turn lead to increased cell divisions and encourage vegetative growth, which results in an increase in crop yield, it also has a significant effect on the nutrients content of leaves.
The dissertation recommended the possibility of using saline water to irrigate salinity-tolerant crops, including sunflowers, with the use of organic fertilizers for their role in reducing the harmful effect of irrigation water salinity on plant growth and improving soil properties.
