College of Engineering, University of Al-Nahrain discussed a Ph.D. thesis on designing and modeling of an effective lens for medical applications by the postgraduate student, Mrs. Hala Abdullah Hashem.
The thesis reviewed that the intraocular lens is an artificial lens that replaces the natural lens after cataract surgery, and that the optical performance system is improved by providing the best vision correction, reducing corneal aberration, and significantly enhancing near and far distances at 1.5 mm to 20 degrees as general and precise treatment plans.
The thesis highlighted designing of an ideal, neutral bifocal intraocular lens made of a foldable, hydrophobic acrylic polymer with distinctive optical properties, with a low water content to protect the inner chamber of the eye from fluid interference a new methodology was achieved by modeling an aspheric bifocal intraocular lens to study the effects of Fields of vision at different entrance pupil diameters across the visual range.
