College of Nursing, University of Babylon discussed a master dissertation on the causes and risk factors for hearing loss and deafness among children under the age of five by the postgraduate student, Mrs. Rania Emad Matar. The dissertation highlighted the causes and risk factors for hearing loss and deafness and its prevalence among children under five years of age, and to know the relation between hearing loss and deafness with some demographic data related to children and their mothers. The dissertation confirmed that the general cause of more than three quarters of the sample was ear infection, while the general risk factor for more than two thirds of the sample was a genetic disease, as well as a statistically significant relation between the demographic characteristics of the mother and her children.
