College of Agriculture, University of Basra organized a symposium on hydroponic and economic feasibility of its implementation.
The symposium, in which a number of researchers and specialists participated, reviewed the importance of hydroponics as a solution to many problems of traditional agriculture in term of wasting water, covering the increases demand for vegetables to meet the high percentage of world population.
The symposium also reviewed that water-soluble nutrients provide the extended roots with all required elements, helping in reducing using of soil as a source of nutrients, a suitable environment for plantation and the possibility of using gravel or sawdust as a chemically inactive and stabilized root material.
