During a meeting with the Australian Ambassador to Iraq, Mrs. Paula Ganley, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Abd Yaser Al-Aboudi reviewed the fields of joint scientific and academic cooperation.
Dr. Al-Aboudi stressed on the importance of consolidating fields of cooperation and coordination between Iraqi universities and their Australian counterparts, especially in the fields of scientific research, fields of agriculture, livestock, water and specialties that are directly related to the goals of sustainable development.
His Excellency called on developing of joint academic programs between the two countries.
Dr. Al-Aboudi reviewed that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research intends to study the resumption of scholarship programs in conjunction with the launch of the project and initiative (Study in Iraq).
His Excellency demonstrated the importance of benefiting from global scientific expertise in Higher Education’s institutions, exchanging scientific visits, scholarships, fellowships and joint supervision.
For her part, Mrs. Ganley praised the positive indicators achieved and the decisions taken during the current stage of the period of the Ministry and moving towards development and modernization at the level of the student and professor environment and curricula.
Mrs. Ganley expressed the readiness of her country's universities on bilateral cooperation with Iraqi universities in terms of twinning programs, memorandums of understanding and students exchange.
