College of Engineering, University of Karbala discussed a master dissertation on improving of solar distillation via heat transfer analysis and by using a Fresnel lens by the postgraduate student, Mr. Amir Abdul Salam Abd Al-Aoun.
The dissertation reviewed using of a technique for desalination of salty water and obtaining distilled water from water by benefiting from a Fresnel lens to focus the rays and phase change materials to store the rays during the day and then return them to the device in the absence of solar radiation.
The dissertation emphasized that this process is characterized by the low cost invested in water purification, as well as the quality of performance and results obtained.
