College of Science, University of Karbala discussed a Ph.D. thesis on preparing of imidazolate dendrimers and the study of their biochemical and biological effectiveness by postgraduate student, Mrs. Sawsan Khudair Abbas.
The thesis aimed at preparing organic polyamidoamine branched compounds and prepare heterocyclic compounds such as imidazoles and studying their biochemical applications as anti-stones and know their ability to inhibit the growth of stones besides their applications as anti-diabetics and to stabilize the sugar enzymes alpha-amylase and alpha-glucosidase and their effect, as antibacterial agents and their effect on blood hemolysis.
The thesis demonstrated the preparation and diagnosis of highly branched dendrimers (PAMAM dendrimers) and imidazole derivatives (triimidazole and tetraimidazole), which play an important role in medicinal chemistry, as well as studying their properties in biochemical and biological applications. Some of the prepared compounds were subjected to anti-urinary stone activity and their activity was examined antidiabetic and antibacterial activity, as well as hemolysis tests.
The thesis reviewed that some of these compounds have the ability to inhibit the growth of stones and reduce their size, in addition to their ability to inhibit the enzymes responsible for the breakdown and rise of sugar, and their ability to inhibit bacteria and that some of these compounds do not affect the breakdown of blood through conducting blood tests.
