College of Science, University of Mosul discussed a Ph.D. thesis on the role of the presence of sodium hypochlorite in the formation of micelles and its effect on sterilization efficiency by the postgraduate student, Mr. Fahd Juma Hammad.
The thesis highlighted the procedures for prevention and protection from Covid 19, the most important of which is sterilization and its primary role in preserving human life time and expires.
The thesis reviewed increasing the effectiveness of sodium hypochlorite and increasing its shelf life through the use of surfactant systems containing worm-like or spherical micelles and the production of a sterile gel based on the formation of worm-like micelles that give systems with high viscosity and a gelatinous nature in addition to sodium hypochlorite as a sterilizer.
The thesis concluded to study the effect of adding different concentrations of sodium hypochlorite on the formation of worm-like micelles for a mixture of positive ionic surfactants (CTAB) and negative (SDS) and knowing its effect on the spill and flow characteristics of these systems.
