Mustansiriyah University’s Ph.D. Thesis: On Analyzing Performance of Hybrid Optical System for Underwater Wireless Communications

College of Science, University of Mustansiriyah discussed a Ph.D. thesis on the performance analysis of a hybrid LD/LED optical system for underwater wireless communication by the postgraduate student, Mr. Mertah Naji Abed.

 

The thesis aimed at establishing a modern technical system with high efficiency and low economic cost for the development of wireless communications that operate under water (UWOC).

The thesis reviewed the calculation of the signal received from the hybrid system (LD/LED) and the parameters (BER, Q. Factor, and Data Rate) from the systems (PPM, QAM, NRZ-OOK and RZ-OOK), as well as using of photodetectors (PIN). and APD).

 

The thesis concluded the superiority of the proposed system in achieving an ideal connection in the water depths and the accuracy of the APD photodetector in reaching the best possible performance of the PIN detector, as well as achieving the PIN photodetector.
