During a participation in a workshop on safety assessment and analysis of radiation risk to workers, people and the environment, Singapore, a number of researchers in the Directorate of Radiation and Nuclear, merged Ministry of Science and Technology reviewed developing the IAEA via activating the general occupational safety requirements of radiation workers, how to give radiation doses, analyzing the expected radiation risks and the lessons derived from the application of these requirements. The workshop highlighted identifying the types and quantities of radioactive waste that are stored, whether as a result of the liquidation of nuclear facilities, medical uses of radioactive isotopes or old radioactive waste as well as strengthening the role of controlling authorities and their effectiveness in the application of safety laws and procedures at all stages of transporting and storing waste.
