College of Education for Pure Sciences, University of Thi-Qar discussed a master dissertation on the phenotypic and partial characterization of Proteus Mirabilis Bacteria, as well as studying of its antibiotic components by the postgraduate student, Mrs. Zainab Nabil Gattaa.
The dissertation aimed at studying of P.mirabilis bacteria, which is one of the most important species belonging to the genus Proteus, which belongs to the family Enterobacteracae.
The dissertation also aimed at isolating and diagnosing P.mirabilis bacteria, based on many phenotypic, microscopic and biochemical characteristics, as well as confirming the diagnosis of the bacterial isolates under study via using the API20E system and molecular diagnostics.
The dissertation concluded that 17 bacterial isolates belonging to the P.mirabilis bacteria were obtained, with a rate of (5.8%), as the bacterial isolates were positive for each of the Urease, Methyl red, Catalase, Citrate Utilization tests and negative for each of the Oxidase, Indol, Voges-proskauer tests.
