College of Education for Human Sciences, University of Wasit discussed a master dissertation on the effect of climate change on the climatic characteristics of the days of the solstices and seasonal equinoxes in Iraq by the postgraduate student, Mrs. Azhar Farhan Munther.
The dissertation aimed at revealing the effects of climate changes on the rates of climate elements during the days of the solstices and seasonal equinoxes in Iraq, as the sun's rays are perpendicular to the equator on the days of the seasonal equinoxes and perpendicular to the orbit of Capricorn on the day of the winter solstice and around Cancer on the day of the solstice and daylight saving.
The dissertation concluded that the average daily temperatures during the winter solstice days recorded a positive increase in all study stations except for Mosul station, which recorded a negative decrease of (-1.23%), and the maximum positive change reached (4.33%) in Basrah station.
