Technical College-Musayyib, Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University discussed a master dissertation on the response of two cultivars of date palm, Barhi and Al-Sayer to auxins by the postgraduate student, Mr. Islam Maitham Jassim.
The dissertation aimed at determining the response of either the Barhi or Al-Sayer cultivars to auxins the auxin concentration that helps improve the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of the fruits, as well as identifying the effect of the double and triple interaction between the experimental factors.
The dissertation confirmed that auxins and their concentrations have an important role in influencing the studied traits via increasing the amount of production and improving most of the chemical traits.
The dissertation confirmed that auxins and their concentrations have an important role in influencing the studied traits by increasing the amount of production and improving most of the chemical traits.
The dissertation highlighted that auxin of the type (2,4-D) at a concentration of (2 ml. L-1) helps to delay ripening and has a significant effect on the phenomenon of metizinosis in palm trees, in which pollen grains have a direct effect on the characteristics of the fruit and the acceleration of ripening and it was found that the source of pollen may affect the timing of fruit ripening.
The dissertation demonstrated that the variety has an important role in influencing most of the physical and chemical characteristics and that the interaction between the factors of the double and triple experiment has an important impact on most of the studied characteristics.
The dissertation recommended adding of auxins (IBA and NAA) and not adding the above type, as it affects the date of harvesting the yield and the specific characteristics of the fruits and further studies were recommended using other growth regulators and different concentrations and dates.
