College of Engineering, University of Al-Qadisiyah discussed a master dissertation on the structural behavior of strengthening reinforced concrete beams containing openings by the postgraduate student, Mrs. Rand Mohammed Jassim.

The dissertation reviewed a study of the performance and behavior of reinforced concrete (RC) beams that contain openings reinforced with carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) panels and poured with regular concrete and hybrid concrete (NC and SIFCON).

The dissertation demonstrated that the use of carbon fiber reinforced plastic sheets to strengthen the openings increases the final load by about (152.1% and 76.6%) compared to the unreinforced beam with openings and the increase in the hybrid concrete beam is approximately (4.7% and 1.7%) compared to concrete of Non-reinforced hybrids with holes.
