During a regional meeting on forming an environmental monitoring program organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Austria, Directorate of Atomic Energy, merged Ministry of Science and Technology reviewed forming an environmental monitoring program on people which being exposed to different sources of radiation.
The meeting also reviewed the adopted criteria of World Health Organization (WHO) and Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) as well as keeping on conducting tests in the provinces especially those that have been under the military operations and creating a database on the level of concentration of industrial and natural radioactive pollutants in food and analysis of radiation hazards of different exposure methods.
The meeting recommended strengthening the regulatory infrastructure, radiation safety of imported and produced foodstuffs and exchanging organizational experiences and mutual support.
